Massage techniques, previous courses

February 2012, myofascial release - advanced techniques
                - upper body work

I am still learning about the benefits of integrated myofascial release.  This time the course has been focusing on the upper body: work on the neck, head, and shoulders.  Amazingly, if you make the neck and shoulders looser, it affects the back as well.

February 2012, myofascial release for the TMJ

TMJ is the abbreviation for the temporalmandibular joint - the jaw bone.  Tension in the TMJ can result in headaches, toothache, restricted movement in the neck - in fact a range of different symptoms.  Did you realise that the jaw bone is the only bone that spans across the left and right side of the body?  Imbalances in the body will be reflected in the jaw.

February 2012, myofascial release for the back and sacrum

You can never have too much of a good thing!  Learned some lovely stretches for the back as well as releasing the sacrum.

November 2011, myofascial release advanced techniques                       - lower body work

I have been expanding my knowledge of myofascial release methods for the lower body with a course run by Ruth Duncan of Myofascial Release UK.  The two day course included releases to help balance the sacrum and the pelvis.  This type of work helps with hip problems, lower back pain, pelvic imbalance, pelvic pain.  Releases were also performed on the legs which helps with hip, knee, ankle, and foot issues such as knee, ankle, and foot pain.  There was some elegant work to help release the knee.  It is quite  nice to do and wonderful to receive.

Ask yourself:  Do my knees creak if I try to squat down?  Do my knees hurt or feel uncomfortable when I bend them?
Does my body feel slightly twisted?  Is it harder to turn to one side or the other?  Book yourself a session of myofascial release and feel looser and balanced!

May 2011, reviewing Rossiter Workout

I have been down to London to review Level 2 Rossiter Workout.  It is always amazing how helpful a review can be.  You have seen and done the procedures before.  Now you have time to fine-tune what you are doing making the treatment more effective.  So if you want to fix your pain fast....book a Rossiter session.

February 2011, a new approach for a flexible back

Touch Point Therapy has just participated in a course learning the Dorn Method.  This is a "new" technique from Germany.  It involves doing gentle movements along the spine.  This technique can also be done if there are problems with other joints in the body.

In a Dorn session, the client works with the therapist to re-align the spine.  The therapist uses gentle finger pressure along the vertebrae while the client either moves their leg back and forth, or swings their arms back and forth or moves their head from side to side.  The combination helps to gently re-align the vertebrae.  This is a simeple way give the spine a workout!

Special rates available for 2 sessions, please enquire about the Dorn Method.

November 2010, looking at abdominal massage

Touch Point Therapy is pleased to announce a new treatment is now available: abdominal sacral massage.  This can bascially be called an enhanced "belly massage" as the abdomen is massaged to help with problems affecting digestion.

There is a particular sequence that aims to help women with painful periods, PMS, and fertility problems as it works over the uterus and helps to re-align the ligaments that hold the uterus in place.

Self-help sequences for abdominal/sacral massage are taught.

Ask about a belly massage.
