Frequently Asked Questions

Here is a list of frequently asked questions.

Will I have to get undressed to have a massage?
That depends of which technique you decide to try.
The following techniques are done through clothes:
  • Chair massage
  • Rossiter Workout
  • for children, the massage in schools routine
The following techniques can be done through clothes or directly on the skin:
  • Bowen technique
  • rhythm/mobility
Do you always use oils with your massage?
The simple answer is no.

First, I would like to say that I prefer to use lotions rather than oil.  Lotions give me a better "feel" of the body's tissue.  I find that oil tends to give too much glide so and I tend to slide off the muscles rather than working through them.

Second, there are techniques that can be done through the clothes.  These do not use oil or lotion (see the list above).

Third, myofascial release is one technique that is done on dry skin.
What should I wear for a clothed session?
Ideally you should wear loose, lightweight clothing such as a sweat shirt and bottoms.  If you are wearing lots of layers such as a shirt and a bulky sweater, I may suggest that you remove the bulky sweater.  (If clothing is too bulky or tight, it is difficult for me to "feel" your muscles through the clothes.)
What underwear should I wear if I am dis-robing?
For women, I ask that you wear a bra and knickers.  If you are having a sports massage, you may like to wear running or cycling shorts.

For men, I ask that you wear sensible underwear.  If you are having a sports massage, you may like to wear running or cycling shorts.
