2. Do you always use oils with your massage?


The simple answer is no. 

First, I would like to say that I prefer to use massage lotions rather than oil.  Massage lotions give me a better "feel" of the body's tissue.  With massage oils, there tends to give too much glide.  The fingers tend to slide away rather than probe the underlying tissues.  There are some wonderful waxes for massage that I use.  These are based on bees wax and a readily absorbed by the skin.

There are techniques that can be done through the clothes.  These do not use oil or lotion (see answer to FAQ 1).
 
In contrast to all the other techniques, myofascial release is one technique that is done on dry skin.  Sometimes a "myofascial wax" is used if the therapist feels that this helps in the treatment.
